What are you after? All of these mics sound completely different and have differing rejection/sensitivity.

Don't forget about the Audix OM6, Shure Beta86 (I would take this over the more zippy 87), and the new Audio Technica AE mic.

I would try them all once.

I like the Neumann, but he may sound too wooly with it, and any bleed from the guitar may muck it up further. Just my opinion.

I would try the Shure Beta86. I think that is has good body, and good detail on top. Again, just my opinion. It's a cardioid too.

Look at the EV ND767, it's about $150, and worth every penny! Great live tone, excellent feedback rejection, super strong signal, and almost zero handling noise.

Beyer M88.......period!

I usually get great results with many different types of singers using an AKG C535. Also had good results from a Shure Beta-87.

I second AKG C535. I've seen David Wilcox use it with great effectiveness. A very natural sounding mic, If the singer's good, it will sound good.-Richie

The AKG C535 also often works well on ac guitar, high-hat and snare.

If you are using it as a handheld, it's got a ton of handling noise. Even stand mounted on a wooden stage, it is susceptible to a lot of low frequency rumble.

Better make sure your board has a good HPF.

On a female vocal I'd use a beta87a on a male try a beta 57.
