So far i setted up my mic with the audio interface and that to my laptop. When i play music from Ableton live 8 through the interface to my headset there is a major distortion. Let me make this clear i know absolutely nothing.I don't know what to do. Please help me.

If the original .mp3 plays fine on your Scarlet then the problem
If the original .mp3 plays fine on your Scarlet then the problem occurred when you converted the track to .wav format. Try to reconvert the MP3 track with different settings or better yet just leave it as MP3.
MP3 is a format that leaves out bits to make the file smaller (lossy). WAV is a loss-less format that can possibly use those missing bits. While a converter may be able to engineer the missing bits through an algorithm, generally speaking, those missing bits are gone forever and converting back to a loss-less format won't help that problem. While MP3 may be desirable to the younger generation these days because of the file sizes, it is a crappy way to store and listen to audio if you actually like quality sound.
