I have a Electro-Voice Co7 dynamic microphone that I bought 4 or 5 years ago when Mars Music went out of business and it never worked right.

Is it worth getting this fixed? It was really inexpensive, so it wouldn't kill me if it never works; but if it is a good product I'd pursue the repair route. (alt., I guess I could always use another hammer.)

Thanks.

Well, all my other mics have no problem (SM57, AT3035, Rode NT2A, etc.), but I'm using the preamp in the PreSonus FirePod and I have a PreSonus BlueTube DP (I know, starved plate) -- Tube Drive off -- to pump up the FirePod if necessary.

They are very quiet and provide enough volume for all my other mics (including a KCM R-4 ribbon mic). I have newer XLR cables that have never seen the road (and tested with the other mics).
