Hello everyone, I am new to the forum. I have just started to record drums a few weeks ago. I have an M-audio Fast Track Ultra 8R and I am using the 7pc Drum Kit Microphones from Samson. My drums sound great live but when I am recording they sound a bit distant. The room that they are in has very minimal echo and the acoustics are pretty good. Any ideas? Thanks.

3. Close-mic each element of the kit and process each input to get the desired sound (divide and conquer), or...
4. Use fewer mics and careful placement to capture the kit (Glyn Johns etc.).
