The mix seems too rolled off on the high end, especially the voice. I want to give it a big boost between 6 and 10kHz. The bass is too punchy. My instinct is to have it round and smooth, more supportive than featured. The organ could be more forward. The sax solo comes on too strong. It could be set back, with more reverb. And I agree with Kurt's reverb suggestion, longer and brighter.

Yes, it could have more HF, but then if it is for a movie about the 30's 40's it could stay there.
that's what i was thinking. it (vocal) sounds more like a DX77 than a U67 or U87 and that's appropriate. maybe a short room verb and a little LA2A compression on the Sax?

I thought the vocal tasted like if cooked with a k47 capsule.. different recipe, similar sounds ;)

Thanks for the great feedback , :)
Ive taken your suggestions onboard and tried to address the
roll off , longer tail verb lead vocals , sax level/comp and ambience , widening the organ .
This was done a few years back and at the time my interface was dig 002 .
When I try to get more top end , I hear a ticking/clicking . Sometimes it sounded like a clock.
I am happy that the vocals gave an impression of some great microphone vibe .
The mic was a rode nt1a to the interface , Im trying to get to know which plugins can
get a nice vibe .( I've got to get inside of all these plug ins I invested in over the last few years )
Cheers guys for the expert opinions .I'll leave this one now . Hope you agree with the changes.
Please let me know if it sits better or feel it was overdone , or still lacking in those departments.
Ash

You may try Izotope RX, they have great tools for removing clics and other noises...
Nonetheless, I like the recording very much. New mix is nice !

it's always difficult to do these kinds of songs. Body & Soul is such a standard and almost everyone has heard it before so the expectations bring a lot of baggage to carry. you've done well. performances are very nice especially the vocal. it sounds very nice.
at this point the only criticism i could offer would be aesthetic, meaning preferences in what i would like to hear and that's simply a matter of taste. i feel like i would like to hear more of an Atlantic or Western Recorders / Ocean Way kind of reverb on the vocal (longer and brighter) and a little more grind and spread on the Hammond. good work Ash.
