I am trying to get this thing to record, inputs are good (levels) moving output to board is good I can hear it. When I hit the record button seems to be recording, but I don't get anything on playback, no meters or sound. Seems that nothing is going to the tape.

Possible problem
1. the manual says use Ampex 457, I got Ampex 357 with it, would it not record at all to this type of tape? What do you guys think, any other possible things it could be?
