Thoughts please. I have a small "studio" that I am building up in my garage (yes, I am one of those). The only method of heating and cooling is via a window unit mounted to the outside wall and not in a window. I have thought that I could build a wall between the air cond. wall and my proposed control room. I would then take small ducts from the unit and route them into the studio room and the control room. I thought then, I could take some more ducts and run them from the bottom of a wall in a room to the new "air handler room" to act as an air return.
1st, what is thought of this idea?
2nd, what methods can be used to isolate noise from each room.
3rd, I thought that this "air handling room" might make a great location for the noisy computers that I have. I have 5 computers that need to hush.

This is very similar to what I do in my basement studio. It is built as a room 4' within my house' foundation walls. The vibrations carry through the walls so it's not perfect but it keeps things cool. I always kill the AC for singing or quiet acoustic tracking. Being a basement, things are generally cool anyway so your mileage may vary. A friend of mine used to engineer at Sigma in Philly and he says there was a room that had a wall AC unit in it... so don't feel bad about your work-around.
I absolutely love the idea of keeping the fan noise in this room... wish I'd had the forsight to predict a computer in my studio when I built it back in the analog age!
