I second the frozen CPU suggestion.

On a more practical note I suggest to check out http://www.directron.com and look for "Quiet PC".
The Zalman solutions are extremely quiet but also not exactly cheap. I just went for a CoolerMaster Silent solution that set me back only $10.95 plus S&H. It's also very quiet. That one is a great compromise if you need the $30 you saved over the Zalman for beer or other important purchases.

... and I also wanted to add that I actually have a Zalman (not the 7000 though) and the Coolermaster working side by side now so I can really compare. As indicated, the Zalman is a tad bit more quiet but the Coolermaster is generally fine. Let's just say that the choice of hard disk becomes at that point more important than the cooler you pick (and anticipating the next question: The solution there are Seagate Barracudas :D ... ain't nuthin' more quiet out there).

To make the statement complete, here is what you want in a quiet PC:

1. Enermax Silent Power Supply
2. Coolermaster or Zalman quiet fan
3. Seagate Barracuda HD's or HD enclosures (somewhat expensive and not much fun to install)

With those three measures chances are that other pieces of equipment in your studio are noisier than the PC. And yes, I am speaking from experience on all of the above.

Hope this helps.
