I finally have everything set up. The sound is going through my mixer, through my soundcard, and out the monitors. When I go to record a second track, I have the sound playing through my headphones(plugged into the mixer) and the monitors off, but it records what is going into the mic along with the previous track coming through the headphones. Of course, I want to record only what is going in the mic, but I'm not sure how to listen to the playback through the cans without recording the playback. How would I do this?
