Hello there, I just recent bought some new equipment hoping to start recording vocals at home!
I went to my local music store, the clerk there helped me out with selecting some equipment based on my budget and requirements.

I run a desptop with Windows Seven installed ( i also have a laptop with vista installed).

We picked out the Steinberg CI1 Audio Interface, the ART M-ONE condenser microphone, earbuds with converter to the appropriate phone input jack, a stand etc...

Now I was pretty stoked until I got home and installed the software and plugged in the equipment, everything works fine, the interface is working, it powers the mic, the computer detects it and such.
The problem was the audio output. There is absolutly no sound!
Recording is NOT the problem, I am succesful in recording random noises through the microphone, I know because the programs visual interface flickers as I tapped the mic. However, there is no playback, even when I stop the recording and play it from the start. I had to switch the output device using the Audition program I was using to my desktop speakers to actually hear the track.
I've tested the different ASIO programs, and the one that came with the CI1. I have also tested if the headphones were malfunctioning by using it with my mp3 player, it works.
I have played around with almost all the settings I can think of, all the knobs on the interface, but I still can't get it to work... this is driving my insane.

I hope someone can help me here.
