Hello!
I do up my tracks in SONARx1, but then like to make a playlist of all the song's different mixes in VLC player so I can a/b them. I've looked through the preferences and can't see what is causing this, but I swear it's compressing the audio. Anybody know how to override this? Or can anybody suggest a good clean player for 32bit wavs. that has a playlist function? I know this is basic, but I'm just starting out on my mixing journey. Thanks much for your input,

VLC doesn't compress. But it also won't play 32 Bit wav or AIFF files. That being said, nothing will. Your soundcard or external interface is only 24 bits. If you're opening 32 bit (regular or float) files in VLC and it is managing to play them, it's imparting some kind of dithering or it's truncating the word length (which, in both cases, would affect the sound). Of course, I'm assuming you're using a Mac if you're using VLC. In which case, the standard Quicktime Player will do a good job as well. Then of course, there's the iTunes interface too.
