:) Hello! If you have regular clients, does their work get streamlined somewhat?
You know their sound, common EQ corrections, balances. If that is true, is it a good idea, once you have found an ME you like, to continue your business with them?
Sort of like the family doctor, or lawyer.

I couldn't have put it better myself. There is a definite "ease of operation" involved. A great deal of trust is also implied. The client is assured that you understand what they are going for & what you can deliver.
Sometimes it takes a while to get there. The more experienced you are as a mastering engineer, the easier the process usually is. I cut 12" Copper DMM Refs (for vinyl) for clients so they can evaluate my ideas under their own familiar surroundings before masters are made. Also, sometimes PMCDs need to be revised for artistic reasons.
That's the funny thing about mastering: There is no "right or wrong" when it comes to sound. It all comes down to knowing what the client wants or needs or what will help the program to do its best in the marketplace. This is always open to various interpretations. When you & the client have an ongoing relationship, things go easier.
