I'm looking for the best A/D converters I can get for $1000 or less. The Lynx Two card stands out as a an obvious choice... I also will need D/A conversion, but mainly for monitoring. I'm not sending out to an analog board or anything.
The Apogee Rosetta A/D can be had used for around $600. This is the original Rosetta with the 96kHz upgrade. I realize for monitoring, etc I will need some D/A, but I can look into that with the extra $$.
I'm interested in hearing comments on the A/D conversion quality between these two units.

However, the Lynx guys(All of them! The hardware designer, the software designer, etc.) ARE answering tech support emails to the Lynx forum even while AT the convention - from the floor - with their wireless Palm Pilots, I guess?(How many others bother to do that?)... Keep in mind that with Lynx you DO NOT get some below minimum-wage tech support gerk from some island somewhere, you get THE PEOPLE who make the things, or you get no one at all! This is good. I, for one, am glad to "allow them" a day or two a year to visit the conventions - especially as they are still "there for me", if I need them.
If it meets your needs, Go Lynx, my friend!

I A/B'd them both a while ago and ended up getting the Lynx 2. The quality between them is negligable. Me and 3 other engineers on the day. Two chose Lynx two chose Apogee in blind tests. All of us agreed that pro recordings can be had with these converters.
So it co,es down to bang for buck. Lynx wins there hands down. But here's the best bit. The tech support. Fantastic!!!!!
