Hello all,
I've been interested in learning how to master for vinyl for a while now. Call me crazy. Something about it fascinates me. I have never done any mastering profsesionally yet, all of my experience thus far is as a recording and live mixing engineer. I know the market for vinyl is ever dwindling, but I still don't think it's quite obsolete.Unfortunately, I can't afford to go out and buy a lathe and figure it out myself, so any old timers out there have any advice as to how I could learn this dying art?
thanks -Lars

I agree with Brad. You must put time in on a lathe. I cut for vinyl every day on a Neumann DMM lathe & am quite busy, so the art is not obsolete here yet. Live mixing is a good point of introduction to mastering (cutting is something else altogether). I did a lot of live mixing just before I started in my mastering career. Stick with it!
