What would you guys do first? Right now I'm using two RNP/RNC combos and I want to improve the quality of my recordings. I am going to get two X73i's with the power supply, a UA 1176, and an Empirical Labs Distressor...but I only have enough money to get the pre's OR the compressors now. Thank you

Having at least one 1176 is must have in my world. In keeping with your frame of choices, I'd likely get the x73i or rather the x81 and the UA 6176 and you still get two mic pre's and the 1176 comp that can be used in stand alone mode.
With the exception of my API and ViPre mic pre's, I get much more out of my comps as far as tone, color and end results than I do with just about any other mic pre. Even the bashed Mackie, can come to life when pumped through a very good comp or two.
