i read in sound-on-sound the other day that the Maxtor Fluid dynamic bearing motors run hot and may require additional cooling. seeing how i just ordered and received two of these for my ANUS do i have reason to be concerned? has anybody else used Maxtor drives with this technology? the last thing i want is a hot ANUS. i've got a fairly large case coming for the build. air circulation should not be a problem.

first the heat, then comes the itching. then you get a pain in the ANUS :( .

Haven't heard anything of yet but then again I haven't been reading up on it...
Yes, the WD drives do indeed have the 8MB buffer on them and will increase speed overall but again I don't know about heat constraints. Any hard drive will always require cooling, it's just a known fact. Whenever you can add cooling for hard drives..do so!
I'll see what I can dig up on these new Fluid Bearing drives and the heat they emit
