i ran into a situation yesterday where i almost had to compromise audio quality for mic placement, on a snare drum, thankfully it was an almost. but that made me realize the studio doesn't have an adjustable mic clip, that takes the typical mic clip thread. it'd be great to have one in case...

anyone got some suggestions?

I like these a lot:

They are spring-loaded so they mount without having to tighten anything. The flexible gooseneck allows further positioning options.
I've tried a bunch of different mic clips and these have worked the best for me.

Yes, very solid, never have any problem with them. What I love is how easily and how quickly they mount on a drum rim. No knobs to turn, simply hook the bottom clip on the bottom rim and pull the top portion up and over the top rim and let go! The spring-loaded device holds firmly to the drum.
I have found this especially time-saving when needing to make quick mic position adjustments. Also, the gooseneck is very tight and holds even heavy mics in position.
