I'm looking to two-mic record an acoustic guitar. I've found a local company who will hire out microphones but I'm out of my depth when it comes to choosing from their list... If anyone with the knowledge can have a look at the hire list below and let me have some thoughts on choice and application it would be greatly appreciated...

You could get that list down to around half a dozen by deleting the lavalier, headset, shotgun, miniature, drum, boundary and any other non-mic bits of hardware, but you will need to tell us a bit more than just a list of mics.

So, for example, this is a steel-string guitar, right? What type of acoustic environment will it be in? Is the recording in a studio or part of a live performance? Is this solo guitar playing or are there other instruments or vocals as well, either playing at the same time or will be added to the mix?

Where does the "two-mic" bit come from? Do you mean stereo mics or close mic plus room acoustic?

What type of pre-amplifiers are you going to use? What type of recorder or computer interface do you have?

What sort of hire place is this that doesn't have a Shure SM57 on its mic list?

This list looks like it specializes in staging mics....live performance, movie sets, theater, etc. Theres not a lot of real actual studio mics though there are several that will do a great job. The brand names are the right ones, its just that the models of what you really want for your project are limited.

Answer the questions that Bos asked and then we can better assess your needs.
