Hello RO, i've tried a few searches on this, and while I'm sure this has been asked before, I'm sorry to say i couldn't find it. So here goes..

I'm looking for an 8 channel D/A converter to take the AES outs of my lynx ls-aes, to run into either a summing box or mixer. most 8 channel converters i've found are a/d/a, not just d/a. the only ones i know of are swissonic, which is ADAT.

does anyone know of any 8 channel D/A only converters with AES inputs? Thanks for the help,

-eric.

hey teddy,

i have already ordered the isa 428 a/d converter card, so that takes care of what's going into the ls-aes. actually, the aurora is the cheapest a/d/a that i've found, so it might wind up being what i get anyway. but if i do that, i might want to cancel my 428 converter order!!

i've been waiting for that card for two months now, so its getting a bit frustrating.

also, doesn't the aurora have a pci interface and everything? i don't really need that, since the L22 already covers the software mixer.

get an rme A/D/A and you get 8 out and maybe by accident you'll forget buying the A/D option for the 428

this brings up a good point, and question.

does sam ash hold you to whatever special orders you make? like, if i don't buy it, will they keep calling me, or just charge my card some penalty?

just curious if anyone here works for/has done this with sam ash before.

Did you say RME Converters kicked ass on a Rosttta combo with Big Ben?

I was under the impression the rme gear was much, much less expensive than the Apogee stuff. I just reluctantly returned a Big Ben due to a "possible" card problem on my d8b. The Big Ben was looking like a great move (to me) but I opted for a Lynx Aurora 8 instead of the Apogee Rosetta 200 (almost the same price) and having to put more money in the Mackie d8b. I'll reclock the d8b with the Aurora 8 until I get a new WC card with a working BNC INput. I would think the Aurora 8 would meet the needs of AD and DA with a D25 pin breakout cable and analog female XLRs.

I'm looking for opinions on the Aurora 8. Can't wait to record a full set of drums with it.
