I am a bit confused about something. (No pun intended)
I run Sonar 5 PE and it has an option to record at 32 bit. Although my MOTU 2408 mk3 only supports up to 24 bit, I decided to check it out anyways. At first listen I thought I actually noticed a difference for the better and then proceeded to frantically jump up and down with joy. I checked the properties of the actual wav file I recorded and it came up as 32 bit.
Is this in fact possible?
(I need to know if another joy session is required)
-Thanks.

The advantage of the program converting everything to 32-bit, allows more aggressive processing without much concern to noise floor and headroom. Take for example Adobe Premiere Pro, a video editing program that takes all camcorder audio from 48kHz 16-bit and trans-codes it, or rather "conforms" it automatically to 48kHz 32-bit so that you needn't concern yourself with being a competent audio person (which most video folks aren't) and can do just about processing they want to do (if they knew what to do) without fear of overload or noise floor noise (which never seem to stop a video editor before). It still doesn't help video editor numbskulls who don't know how to deliver good audio, deliver good audio (probably doesn't include Charles?). So that they really don't know what's going on anyhow. In a sense it just gives you more room to move within your dynamic range so that compression/limiting and other effects can be added without fear or reprise. So it is still a good thing and you should have a drink for me. Make sure you take some "GasX" before you jump up and down for joy, as Joy, doesn't live here anymore.

Don't call me Joy!
