No further joy sessions are necessary and in fact you own the universe one joy session. All it's doing is filling the bottom eight bits with zeros... in essence a 24 bit file. You can only do as good as your converters.

The advantage of the program converting everything to 32-bit, allows more aggressive processing without much concern to noise floor and headroom. Take for example Adobe Premiere Pro, a video editing program that takes all camcorder audio from 48kHz 16-bit and trans-codes it, or rather "conforms" it automatically to 48kHz 32-bit so that you needn't concern yourself with being a competent audio person (which most video folks aren't) and can do just about processing they want to do (if they knew what to do) without fear of overload or noise floor noise (which never seem to stop a video editor before). It still doesn't help video editor numbskulls who don't know how to deliver good audio, deliver good audio (probably doesn't include Charles?). So that they really don't know what's going on anyhow. In a sense it just gives you more room to move within your dynamic range so that compression/limiting and other effects can be added without fear or reprise. So it is still a good thing and you should have a drink for me. Make sure you take some "GasX" before you jump up and down for joy, as Joy, doesn't live here anymore.
