Im currently working on an acoustic indie/pop demo. the guitarist/vocalist and i are producing it ourselves and we're in the really early stages of recording. it's our first time attempting to make any sort of legit recording and we are both pretty new to the recording process. it would be great if any of you dudes could help me out in any way, as far as letting me know what i should do to the tracks. like i said, I'm pretty new to this but know enough to be able to understand what you have to say.
just some info on the song:
-everything was recorded and tracked using Cubase LE
-guitars are just the direct signal from a Taylor acoustic electric, no processing or reamping
-vocals just have eq, some compression, and a little autotune (which glitches in a few parts, we have to manually adjust some things)
-please note that this isn't anywhere near a finished product, and i am fully aware that it needs lots of work

Sounds great. Good job. Good mix. If you're looking for critical critique, the only suggestion I would have is sometimes a singer will accidentally pass air through their nose while singing a note. This may or may not be added for effect in a good way. I don't know if that was the intention, but I do want to point it out. Stellar job on the recording by the way.

but yes, those parts are added more for effect, but we may or may not go back and do another take in certain spots. another thing that was suggested to me on another forum was to bring the vocals more to the front... how would you go about doing that?
p.s. I would also like to get some feedback on the guitar tracks, do i have to repost this in a different forum or can i move it?

Good job for first recording take. I think they mean "turn it up". To bring to the front usually means make it stand out more or make it more appearent, so volume, equalizing, or rerecording with a microphone closer to the mouth would probably bring the vocals more to the front. The guitar sounds great. I would definitely clean up a little bit of it. For example, if you hit only the bass note first (as opposed to the bass note and the next string down) and the strum the rest of the strings it adds a sort of clean bass line on top of strumming. Also, I can hear in your strumming that there is a slight shuffle. By that I mean the upstrokes are a little delayed in rhythm. To have an even down up down up takes time, and effort. These subtle issues are merely minor. The overall sound is pleasant.
