Hi there

I'm in the process of testing an ADK Model S, Vienna Edition, I got it for 300$ with a 8 days money back trial. It's intended use is mainly male vocals, pop and alike, with a little female vocals and acoustic guitars once in a while.

So far I liked it on acoustic guitar and a lot on my girlfriends voice. Though, problem, I dislike how it renders my voice. I might be wrong, but I feel it's too neutral to me, I guess I miss some tube-like warmth? What do you think? Any knowledge on this one?

(One mic I liked a lot on my voice was the RODE NTK, as well as I have been recommended the SP C1, I guess for the pleasant coloration it adds on full, clean voices like mine)

Any advice would be highly appreciated, thanks you in advance, Calidus

The ADK is a very good mic and should serve you well.As for making a call on what sounds good on your own voice... since none of us here are there to hear your voice , a judgement towards what is right or better would be,at best, a subjective call. This is something only you can make a decision on.If the ADK sounds really good on several sources and this is something you need a mic in your locker to accomplish, then by all means keep it, and look for something else to take up the slack where it does not perform.Since you state you have a clean, full tone to your voice, perhaps a really good dynamic will get you what you need.A Sennheiser MD441 is really hard to beat as is a 421.But this does take your budget up a notch. If you are looking for a single mic that is a do-all kind of piece, then you are going to have to spend a bit more cash and then test a bunch of mics to find the right one.Theres lots to choose from and the path to this, though frustrating, can be fun and who doesnt like trying out gear!
Try a tube ADK.They are more money but very good on a lot of sources.Or you could get a tube or transformer based preamp to warm things up on the mic you've got....either way, its going to take research and a decision only you can make.
