Yeah, I know this has been discussed before, but it hasn't helped me make up my mind. This has been at the bottom of my list. I have a Behringer unit that I paid about $30 for. Of course, it has more features than anything under $1000 but sounds bad. Still. it's not in the signal chain so I put off upgrading. But everyone gets tired of playing after about half an hour listening to it, so I'm ready to spend at least a bit of money to combat ear fatigue. Options: (1) There are a lot of headphone amps in the $300-500 that will fulfill my minimal requirements (at least 6 headphones, individual mono signal or a "more me" addition to the main mix for each channel). (2) I'd love to build a system like Remy recommended a year or so ago, but I don't have the time to do it right now. (3) There are more expensive systems like the Hearback (they even have better features than the Behringer!) but that would mean making people live with the Behringer until a major stock market rally.

Questions: (A) Favorite units in the $300-500 range. (B) Reasons I should forget about the answer to (A) and go with options (2) or (3). Thanks in advance.
