Price range?

Well I'd probably buy secondhand from somewhere like ebay or gumtree for like £400 max.

Thanks for the suggestions, they look pretty good. Another thing I still a bit confused on mixers, such as if i get an analog, plug it into an interface and then into my macbook, will all the channels on the mixer come up in logic?

depends on how you connect it. With your budget I would go with all in one solution.

I already have a tascam fireone interface , but does it matter what interface you have if i got an analog mixer?

My interface doesn't care what you have.

Are polar opposites - you need a mixer if you want to mix live sound/monitors/etc. and an interface if you want to get audio data onto the computer.

Still want a mixer?

Phonic Helix might do what you want, no idea on the price of those.

Okay, i think I've decided just to get an audio interface but do you know if there are any with more than 8 XLR inputs?

How many do you need?

I know Presonus make one which has about 8.
Most of the ones larger than that will simply provide a connector for an external preamp.
Or you can get 2 and daisy-chain them - you can do that with the M-Audio Delta series, and with Presonus gear (of the same type).

A FP10 has 8preamps I think, along with 2 line inputs or something like that. You can daisy chain those.

Note that you'll need a hefty PC and a good (Texas Instruments/TI) Firewire chipset to run 16 simultaneous tracks.
Tip: record to a secondary SATA hard drive.

I dont really understand what daisy chaining is? Could you please explain as im not very good with all this terminology. Im using a macbook with 4 Gb memory, 2.4 Ghz and a 250 Gb HDD, will this be fine?

ALL of these terms that folks are bandying around are very very basic 'recording language' terms. Get to know them.

Nobody said you couldnt post here or anywhere else. You've posted in at least five other places on this same subject. You only have to read the books to increase your knowledge rather than continue to ask the same questions in several different places.
