Hello,

FirePod > Cubase SX

I am racking my brain on the best way to setup a mixerless DAW that would allow me to have 4 (or more) differant headphone mixes. I will be getting a 4 channel headphone amp like the Behringer HA4700 to make my headphone mixes, I obviously want to take advantage of the 0 latency monitoring, so what are my options here? Any ideas, equpiment suggestions, or examples?

Keep in mind I dont have a lot of $$ to spend.

I'm open to suggestions!

Thanks guys!
Josh

0 latency from what or which unit ?

The B HP-amp does have inputs on the front panel but I don't see how this will help set up different mixes.
None of the DAWs are latency free.

hey slowjett.

The headphone amp will give you "overall" volume control for each headphone (channel), but that unit won't provide flexibility to adjust levels for the different sources in your mix (i.e drums, guitar, mic, etc.) to each headphone channel.

I would say if you can get aways with setting a general mix for all the headphone channels, then you'll do good with the B headphone amp. If you're looking to set different levels for the different sources, you may want to find a different solution.

Kev- the Firepod's monitor stage is direct on the unit. Monitoring takes place before it sends to the DAW via firewire. so while it is probably not Zero latency, it's pretty darn near that.

I should have just said Direct monitoriing =]

So there are some headphone amps that will allow me to set seperate mixes from each channel (sort of like buses in the unit) from the firepod, to the however many sets of output for cans that are available? Or would I be better off getting a small multibus rackspace line mixer? Any suggestions on either of these?

I just dont want to have the bulky thing if its doing nothing except my monitor mixes..
