Not just for dust, (we use a very soft paint brush for that) but for the hand and finger goo. (Sweat, and insert one of Fletchers four basic food groups.) Not that we allow any food or drinks near our desk but we do sometimes get in a hurry and forget to wash our hands, Duh! ;)
What type of cleaner do you use and what is the best method for getting around all the faders and pots.
Also we have an Argosy housing, what would be the best cleaner to use for cleaning the armrest and finish on it.
I realize these questions sound a little stupid but you guys always amaze me at the little tricks you have learned and use.

Usually, nobody worries about it...but if you really want to get anal...try some distilled alcohol and Q-tips.
The paint brush thing is the "A" method for dust, etc...but the rest of the stuff you're talking about will come off with a little alcohol [not the drinking kind, never waste good hooch on a desk!!]
The best part is, it evaporates quickly so you don't have to worry too much about drying off the excess.

This isn't an answer to your question, but its closely enough related that I thought it was worth adding. Unless your console is being used 24/7, I would strongly recommend getting a custom cover for it. I have a bunch of old guitar amplifiers so I had already dealt with the two leading amp cover makers: Tuki Covers and LeCover. Tuki is more expensive but they both make great product. Before you think that this will be expensive - its not! I have an old small 16 x 8 console (4 feet wide, 2 1/2 feet deep) and LeCover made an exact fit cover to my measurements for $25! No more dusting. He even added a little flap at the rear of the cover so you could put it on without unplugging the connections at the rear of the console. For $25! Figure $50 or $60 for a full size monster board.
