I just bought Intel 3.06 processor with hyperthreading technology. Will hyperthreading speed up my comp when I'm using Logic 5.5? Will it allow me to use more plugins or something? How does it work when I'm using single application?

tnx,

chris

It's up to the application to utilize multiple processors. If the application does not support this then it will not utilize the CPU processing that the hyper threading is giving.

If indeed it does utilize this technology then indeed you will see an increased performance gain!

Check to see if Logic takes advantage of it or not.

Opus,
AFAIK logic utilizes dual processors but hyperthreading is using one processor splitting it in 2. I do not think there are any application that really support that. It's Intels new thing. I heard somewhere that it only works if there are more than 1 application run at the same time and non of the applications uses 100% of the processor. Do you know anything about it?

thx,

chris

Actually Nuendo is optimized for it as well as Cubase SX....I'm sure Sonar is as well but can not say for sure.

Basically you don't need two applications you just need a code to recognize the interleaved CPU mathematics.

If logic takes advantage of dual CPU's then it should work just fine. If there are issues than Logic will need updating but since they are no longer supporting or developing for PC, your SOL!
