I have wondered about the relevance to audio that Intels new "HT technology" has.
I have in the past been assured of its non- relevance to audio on this forum.
I have just learned that there is another "school of thought on the matter"
This is a quote from a lately discovered web resource, "PCMus", a very plentiful site for my interests, in fact equal to about 3-4 times the amount I've found at any other one site.

Not to poop on anybodies opinions, but rather to confirm that it is still sort of, at the"opinions" phase, evidently for the most part.
so as someone who plans to buy a (p4)processor for my new to be built pc(p4p800del) for audio, Its still dicey! maybe, maybe not! if you like the name, buy hyperthreading enhanced processors, or not. .

I didn't know, but I was a bit afraid that what I said may have struck a sensitive spot with anyone on this forum who assured someone else about hyperthreading's uselessness,
pertinent to audio streaming/recording, or for it to appear i am "bashing"
Not my intent.
But what I am interested in, is acquiring, as much learning from persons with personal experience as I can.
The first hand -"told"savvy of experts such as those using this board is a commodity of untold value, in my opinion.
I am simply glad the truth is so difficult, really, to conceal, with some of those priveliged to know it, feeling as they do that they are well advised to try and hoard any fresh knowledge... ain't that a pisser?

believe that is a deplorable one.
Guess I'm what some call a "dreamer", I am thankful for it though.
I suspect many are as confused as many others but maintain as much bluff on those other "others" as possible, thats why they make the "big" bucks, you'll be told.
Guess if I was CEO I'd wanna stay that way, so I would probably do the same dam thing aint that a heluvanote?

Also more specifically I own the Asus p4p800 mb, bought to build a DAW pc, if you know any reasons I should do so or not, please let me hear about them if you can, thanks!
I'm not a PC expert, but I also just built a PC using Asus P4C80
I'm not a PC expert, but I also just built a PC using Asus P4C800 Deluxe mobo and P4 2.8E w/HT and utilizing dual-channel DDR400 RAM.
It is my understanding that "Native" OS's will support HT, including XP and XP Pro. Exactly what programs will utilize HT is unclear to me, but I thought I recall Nuendo having HT support (don't quote me)... I do believe HT support is application dependant even with Native OS's.
The Asus 800FSB MoBo's appear to be a good choice for PC DAW's, and although my PC is a "multifunction PC", it still runs audio apps with amazing speed. I am having a 1394 VIA chip issue (appears to be DOA) with my MoBo, but hopefully Asus will help me out.
OK, now the "Experts" can reply...

I have found out this firm builds all styles of DAWs and reading their pages is a trove.....
But the issues I have recently asked about are answered here for me as I see these folks selling DAWs WITH the HT, and the ECC,& registered ram....& seems like something I am forgetting..64bitAMD! thats it! anyway check this outfit :

I think you're right about Hyperthreading, because from what I've read around some sites:
1. Steinberg Cubase SX 2
2. Steinberg Nuendo 2
3. Cakewalk Sonar 3.1
all support HT.
Whether or not Windows XP with SP1 or subsequent updates supports HT I do not know.
For me I have it disabled for PT LE 6.1.1 purposes!
