I'm having to install Pro Tools LE (6.4 with MBox) on my DAW PC but Digidesign state that you must disable Hyperthreading in the BIOS before proceeding.
Now forgive me if I have got this wrong but, as I understand it, you cannot simply disable HT in the BIOS with Windows XP as the OS is set to use HT (or Multiprocessor) or not at installation.
I only need to transfer a handful of songs with 24 tracks of audio from Nuendo3 so I'm not bothered if it's just a performance hit but I have a few questions:
1. Has any body been able to run PT LE with HT 'On'?
2. What are the problems?
3. Is there a workaround?
4. Has it screwed up your otherwise perfect set-up?
5. Does PT LE uninstall cleanly?
6. Why are Digidesign not up to speed with common PC DAW technology?
7. If I'm correct with my OS assumption how do Digidesign get away with such naff advice?
(and before you ask - yes I have a Mac, I just prefer my PC!)
I would be grateful for any help with this.

Disabling HT in the BIOS will cause no ill effect to your machine. In fact HT is by default off in most setups. Windows XP asks when installing so that it installs the system files needed for PC apps which support it to use it.
Digidesign don't care too much about HT because their software is based on the TDM HD setup which use DSP farm cards. Essentially LE is much the same animal so they didn't bugger about re-engineering it too much to work on a native platform.
To be honest, i have HT on the desktop i'm typing on now. I can't see the difference with it on or off???
