Does anyone know of a nice mobo for a P4 without VIA? I was one the sight for ASUS and couldn't find anything!
Also, I'm running Cubase SX 2.0 with Tascam FW -1884 on a PC. Whenever I load Cubase SX I get a loud obnoxious sound come through my gear during the load screen. Then my audio will sound grainy, click, and pop until I restart Cubase. Then its fine. anyone have any ideas?

Get some good DDR400 low-latency RAM, and you'll be on par with most anything with a single processor (including a MAC!).
I'm not a fan of the VIA chipsets, either. Go Intel, or go home :).

I agree with Randyman, that happens to be my favorite MOBO. If money is really tight the ABIT IC7 is basically the same board for about $70 less. It has the 875 chipset and the ICH5R controller but doesn't have as much O/C control as the ASUS. But then again why would you O/C a DAW.

I've built several, with excellent results.
On my current PC I switched to an MSI mainboard, after reading a review at tomshardware.com...MSI motherboards sometimes test a tad faster than ASUS boards.
This particular MSI model I'm using sports an Intel 865G chipset, and I'm using a Northwood 3gig P4, with hyperthreading enabled, and a gig of dual-channel ram.
Makes a very capable, dependable DAW rig, so I'd recommend checking out the MSI motherboards in addition to ASUS.
I've also had good luck with Epox, Supermicro, Abit, and Gigabyte.
I would expect it is always a good idea to use a mainboard with Intel support chips when you intend to use an Intel processor.

Just read hardocp.com their IC7-MAX3 mobo places super high on their page, I bought one a year ago because of their review and it was well worth the investment, especially considering at the time it was the most expensive non-dual processor mobo around
