Hey guys, so I record most of my music out of my old home studio that was owned by my brother (all of the equipment was his) so I didn't really have to worry about any of the actual equipment... up until last night when I got the news that he's moving the remainder of his stuff. (That means everything I was using :[!) And I figured I would come here seeing as how I know some of you are audiophiles and could help me out. Anyway, all I need to know is what do I need? Seeing as how I didn't build my old studio, I don't know what to get for this one! If it means anything, I'm going to be using a Windows based computer for the editing, but as of August or September I'm going to be getting a new Macbook. So if you could give me a list of things I need then that'd be awesome!
Currently I'm looking at home bundles so I could save a little bit of cash, this is the one that caught my eye;

Now what else am I missing? My brothers studio costed him thousands upon thousands of dollars, so I'm completely clueless as to what else to get, I'm not looking to spend more than like ~600 dollars on all of this though.

I can't get the link you gave to the GC page to work, but at a guess it was meant to be pointing at the [[url=http://[/URL]="http://www.guitarce…"]M-Audio MXL 990/991 and Audio Buddy Package[/]="http://www.guitarce…"]M-Audio MXL 990/991 and Audio Buddy Package[/], since that's the only M-Audio deal they own up to knowing about, but they don't have it anyway. I'm in the UK, so GC very cutely gives me prices in funny numbers of £, but their site then points out my nearest store is in Warwick RI, which is a bit of a swim from here.
That M-Audio package is pretty much rock-bottom, but it would be a starting point. The sad thing about this level of product is that you have to chuck it away as soon as you realise you actually need something better, and that's money poured down the drain.
Before you head off for GC with a slightly bulging wallet, it would be worthwhile looking around for second-hand gear, as you can often do much better than unsuitable new stuff. If you do find something that looks possible, folks here on R.O. are very willing to comment on quality and suitablility.
You will need software on your computer (PC now, Mac later) to run this. Try Reaper as a very low cost, high functionality package that will transfer with you from one platform to another.
