I'm new to this forum so my apologies if I am posting in the wrong forum or the like.
I recently upgraded from a headset to a Blue Yeti mic for recording podcasts. I picked up a boom stand, pop guard, and shock mount, but saw that the Yeti did not have a base compatible with the shock mount.
Am I am able to modify a piece easily (enough) to fit into the larger ring of the shock mount that I can then attach to the standard threaded female receptacle in the Yeti? The $29 shock mount I purchased seems perfectly usable, and I am not interested in paying $200 for the Yeti branded one.

I bought one to mount a ribbon mic that had a terrible mic clip included. The shock mounts works very well and is reasonably sturdy. I ordered the built-in pop filter for it, too. Couldn't be happier.

hueseph For ergonomic reasons, I have my desk height considerably lower than most would more than likely, so using the desk stand forces me to lean into the mic and is quite uncomfortable. Adjusting the gain up isn't an option as the podcast I record is done so while playing an mmo, so key clicks and mouse click sound is a big problem, so having the mic at lowest gain possible and directly in front of my face rather than anywhere near the desk is best.
JohnTodd I wish I would have seen this product prior to buying the shock mount I did. I'm not entirely sure I can return it, in fact I highly doubt it, and it cost the same price. So if I'm unable to return it, it would be silly to NOT give a go at adapting some kind of a female base piece first.
My next step will be to photo the base of my Yeti mic, and the shock mount assembly, so perhaps (crosses fingers) someone could offer an idea on making a little hack/adaptation to make it work. I'm reasonably mechanically inclined, and even welding a piece is an option, as I have 2 brothers-in-law that are master welders.

Is there a problem with using it with the existing stand? It's meant for desktop use after all. I'm sorry, I can't personally help you. I am not a fan of Blue microphones and the Yeti is in my opinion one of the worst ideas they've come up with. But, of course that is just my opinion. I"m sure there are others here who will say the exact opposite. Never the less, wait long enough and someone will give either the answer you want or the answer you need.
