Let me say thank you in advance of replies. I am new to this forum and am hoping to get some fresh idea's. I have a project studio that has been expanding for a few years now. I use a Roland VS-1824 as my main tracking device. I know I made a mistake when I purchased this due to the proprietary software they use so please don't remind me. I have tried to make the best of it and have actually made some pretty decent recordings with this but editing in this really sucks at least compared to what is possible in today's software based programs. I will sometimes do some 2 trk editing in Sound Forge and then to the CD burner but want multi-track edit capability. I currently feed 8 outputs from the vs1824 into a Mackie 8 buzz thru various rack gear and switch to fiber optic at the finalizer and on to a Tascam CD-RW2000. I would like to multi-track edit in my computer and feed back to the Mackie for final mix down to the finalizer and CD-RW2000 basically using the vs1824 for just the tracking phaze. Due to the many selections available I am totally stumped on which to invest in. The choices are just about endless. I want something fairly easy to learn and capable of accepting 8 tracks at a time via TRS ports from the vs1824. I could run digital coax or fiber from the vs1824 but I believe these are only two channel so that probably is not the way I want to go. Thanks for any assistance you can provide to this forum newbie.
