Hi,
I reciently purchased a Korg D-12 to start my own recording project, and I have been told that I should have bought a Boss Br1180?
#1. Any thoughts?
#2. I find the manual dificult, especially regarding inserting effects. Using the master effects are easy, but I'm not finding the sounds, ie. distortion/compression/reverb, (for lead tracks).
It looks like I would build my own effect, (and name it as a user effect), but I don't understand how.
Any help, or direction would be appreciated.

I'm in the middle of a similar decision making process. I want a "recording setup" that is mobile which means something like what you have. I also want 4 mics with phantom power which I haven't found yet, except with the d1600 and the higher priced units from other companies. Plus, I want to to be able to export wav files from it to bring the audio to my PC and do the work there. I've got to study the d1600 manual to see if I can easily do that. Its not easy to find the right unit that has everything you want.
I can't help with #2, but regarding #1, unless you've already done it, I'd look at the d1200 and make a list of all of its features and maybe even go through the manual and list those things that you like. If you've got a spreadsheet or a word processor that lets you create tables, I'd use that, to make the job less tedious. Repeate that process with the Boss BR1180 and then compare the two lists.
My notes may note be accurate, by I think the d1200 can record 4 tracks at once, which is what I want. The BR-1180 only records 2 tracks at once, which is why I am not considering it.
