I am using the M-Audio FW 410 recording interface in conjunction with my laptop. I am in the market for software for recording my MPC loops, turntable scratches, vocals, etc...
What is good entry level recording software that is easy to use and is compatible with my interface?
Any suggestions are welcome 8-)

If money is an issue Cubase makes an SE version. It's track limit is 48 (not to shabby) and doesn't feature automation, besides that it sounds exactly the same as the other Cubase products, costs $100 and can be upgraded to the other versions anytime you want by simply paying the difference. You can also get the Cubase Studio Case for $150, it has SE versions of Cubase, Halion, The Grand, D'cota, Groove Agent and Virtual Guitarist. It can also be upgraded at any time. IMO pretty good for the price.

I suggest you find some other people doing about what you want to do. There are probably a hundred different software programs out on the market, some of them very much different from the others as they are tailored to very specific uses.
Several of them are sort of like "sound and midi recorders and editors". Cubase is one example. It comes in many flawors, ie many prices. A low price alternative in that class is nSynch Studio. A zero price version is Audacity (stereo only).
From the top of my head I could think of Ableton Live as a totally different way of doing things.
By the way, check the homepages. Most have free demo version you can download and play around with. Few allow you to do any real work, but you can sort of start to understand.

Sound forge is not a MTR, it's an editor/recorder. It does its job excellent, but I think you should look into Vegas if you have your eye on SoundForge. It's almost the multitrack equivalent.

IMO I think you should skip the entry level software and go with something like Cubase SX or Sonar. If you are running a Mac then I'd go with either Logic or Cubase SX. The reason being is that after a while of playing with Adobe Audition (Cool Edit) you are going to want to upgrade to one of those titles anyway so you might as well just spend the money once.
