Hi, new guy getting into the gear game here.

I do animations and other type of projects and my current setup (basically a computer and mic) isn't cutting it.

I've done a little research and looked around some forums and what I'm looking to get is:

1 A&H Zed-14
1 Shure SM57 for vocals
2 (only because musiciansfriend is doing a buy one get one) http://pro-audio.mu…"]AT2020[/]="http://pro-audio.mu…"]AT2020[/] condensers, which I figure would make for recording some great wide stereo sound effects if placed somewhat far apart.

Like I said my main focus is voices / voice overs / sound effects / piecing together songs from multiple recordings.

The total cost would be 600$ does that sound like the best I can do for all my intentions in that price range? Thanks !

Ok new strategy / different question.

The sales on the cheap equipment is over and doing more looking around indicates that my previous setup wouldn't have been that stellar.

So basically what I'm curious to know is, the SM7B is a favorite mic in the community esp for what I'll be doing, but it's said it needs a lot of preamp gain.

Would the Zed-14 give enough preamp gain to satisfy that mic?
