Hello,

I am looking to set up a a very simple studio. My goal is to record my wifes voice to computer combined with a split track accompaniment CD. I have access to adobe audition 1.5 for the software and I now that I can import the music first.
I have a two story house and I was going to set up a recording booth under the stairs. It's already insulated because of the location and I was going to add acoustic foam on the ceiling and walls.Carpet on the floor. I have a peavy pcm1 choir mic available if you feel it could be used for my needs (it's lower limit is 50hz and my wife can't sing anywhere near that.) My ultimate goal is to make a CD with 3 to 10 songs for my wife to give away. As for the equipment, my ideas for recording her voice are:

Behringer Eurorack UB1202 Mixer
USB Sound Blaster MP3+ (will be used to import the audio from the mixer.)
mic choices:
MXL 990 Cardioid Condenser Mic with Shockmount
MXL V63M Condenser Studio Mic with Shockmount
Samson CO1 Mic with shockmount

As this project may or may not lead to bigger things, I did not want to commit lot of money. If you think I should try the peavy mic first or use a different mic, mixing board or sound capture card all together please feel free to let me know. I would like to stick within a $300.00 budge for now.

Thanks,
Mike
