I am considering buying a used Soundtracs Topaz mixer. It has a 32:8:2 configuration, and is in great shape. Here are a couple of pics:

Is anyone familiar with these boards, and can you give me any info?

Thanks!

hey, I just sold my Topaz 24 channel board. It is very warm and not as bright as the mackie 8 bus. One nice feature is that it has a channel input as well as a Monitor/tape return input that you can use simultineously. The neat thing about the tape return input is that it has its own 2 band eq while the main input have 4 band eq. Unlike the mackie board, where you have to split your 4 band eq to (2) 2 band if you want to use EQ on the tape return, the Topaz have seperate EQ for both section. Aside from that, it is very similar to the Mackie 8 bus board. As for sound, I would say that the Topaz is not as bright sounding as the Mackie 8 Bus. The only negative thing about the Topaz is their preamps doesn't have much gain. But the preamps are very quiet even when you turn the trim pot all the way clockwise.

So how much is the board that you are looking at ? I sold my 24 channel board with meterbridge for $700.
