I understand these are two different animals. My use will be two tracks into Pro Tools. The reason I am in this predicament is I picked up a used STC-8 from a guitar mart for a good price $2400 got it all hooked up and what do you know the power switch is broke,go figure but after wiggle here wiggle there it came on.I rigged up a Royer to a MP-2NV through this STC-8 into Lucid into the HD system and am really diggin what's goin on,I am thinking what a great front end piece. Now I could not afford this unit at the moment new and have talked with Dave at Crane Song and he will fix it no problem but I have to ship the unit and pay for the parts and the guitar mart agreed to $125 for the cost, but not a $ more, sounds ok to me.Now I have noticed some other stuff just not right with this unit and am having second thoughts. With the plugs I will have in Pro Tools would I be better off chuckin the STC-8 saga and getting a FATSO with it's limited outboard comp settings but having the rest of it's magic, or hanging in there with repair to the STC and getting the FATSO down the road.

I doubt Cranesong will rest till your unit is firering on all cylinders! Stick with it. Fatso comes into its own AFTER the classic signal chain.

Mic
Pre
Eq / comp
(or comp /eq)

With the STC-8 you have the chain! without it you are incomplete! Get the Fatso later.. Buy lottery tickets etc.. :)
