Posting here because I'm out of answers and could use some help. I'll try to keep it as short as I can.

I've been running XP on the DAW I built 10 years ago with nary a problem. Rock solid. I have a $1,000 software licence on it from AudioTX that I will lose if I change any hardware, like the HD or MoBo - so that's why the unit is so old.

To preserve the old drive, I decided to load a new drive with Win7-32 bit on it (processor won't support 64 bit) and only power up the old drive when I have an ISDN session. So, I gotta keep the MoBo. and I need to run Win7 so I can use SoundStreak.

Did all the tweaks to Win7, fresh install, new drive. Updated chipset and graphic drivers. For the most part, it runs great. .but every now and then (at least once or twice a day) I hit playback and the audio sounds like s***. Constant static through the whole file. I have determined that it records this way and is not a playback issue.

Using an M-Audio Delta 44, which is as old as the DAW - about 10 years. I'm wondering if there's an issue with the drivers and Win7?

Keep in mind...this soundcard, MoBo, memory and everything run rock-solid on the old drive running XP, (using AA 3.0) so it's gotta be some sort of issue with Win7. Again, I've done just about every tweak imaginable.

Your thoughts. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
