I'm just looking for basic but good preset synthe sounds not unlike the Killers used on their debut LP "Hot Fuss". I tried absynthe but wasn't feeling the presets and don't know enough to tweak them to sound how I'd like, besides they didn't have much in the way of steady saw/lead type stuff. And Omnisphere is too massive for what I want.
I've tried a number of freeware ones, as well, but I'm just looking for decent Saws, Pads, Synthe Leads, just good sounding stuff.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You could try at
[[url=http://[/URL]="link removed[/]="link removed[/], who have a pretty big database of VST and VSTi's. That doens't help you, but it gives you a list of them to try.
Obviously, leave the instrument box checked, uncheck the "All" box below there and pick your VSTi type. Then you can pick your platform further down the page.
