We have 4 pair of tannoy reveal active monitors (foh, tv sound, and 2 audio editors). These are the only nearfields that I have any real experience with. It seems that they used to be a pretty big hit, but I haven't heard much about them as of late.
A lot of people seem to like the sound of the event tr8's and both pair are currently at the same pricepoint.
What are some key differences between them? I don't think there are stores around that carry both to compare.
Personally, I've been very fond of the reveals, but of course they are the only ones that I've used. A friend that mixes for a local studio says that they are good speakers, though maybe a little dark.
