Favorite lead vocal trick..

Forums

Once I get a good vocal take, I'll double it (copy, paste into new track), both tracks panned center. I'll move the quieter track just a touch behind the master in the timeline, and move it depending on how much spread or delay I want. Usually pretty tight before the air kicks in. Great natural sounding delay and verb without touching a plugin !

Tracking live drums

Decided to finally utilize my Mackie board for recording, so spent the day tuning and Micing drums. I am sticking with a basic 4 mic setup (kick, snare, ohL,ohR), but am also close Micing the toms to mix them with the OH's. The OH's will be basically the room sound, natural reverb. Setup is this: Kick: Audio- Technica MB series; Snare: GLS Audio 57 copy mic.

Positioning an ADAT in a Rack

It's been ages since I've used my ADATs (blackfaces and XT20s). When I did, I had racks within which I mounted them, and the angle of incline was minimal. Now, I work almost exclusively 'in-the-box' soon will acquire a desk with rack modules. The desk's rack module configuration places the ADATs at a radical incline, should I choose to rack-mount them in the desk.

PreSonus AudioBox and IPad Advice

Hello,

I'm an extreme novice when it comes to recording. I purchased a PreSonus AudioBox and have been using my Ipad mini to do some simple recording of myself and the acoustic guitar. Last week I did a recording and it sounded not bad. Last night I tried and the vocals were way overpowering. I had it on the same levels so not sure why this came out different.
