Best Portable Mono Mic for Vocals?

Forums

Hello guys and girls.
This year I am travelling around and I want to record vocals from time to time. Thats why I need a portable handy microphone that I can carry around and of course is able to record Mono (I have a RODE at home but its too much luggage, as I would need a Recording device too).
It does not have to be an ultra professional Mic, but good quality and Handy.

Something OTHER than Asio? Unique setup here.

PC is XP(cant load newer windows without clean install) and 64bit and using Cool Edit Pro (I know), realtek drivers. What is the best audio interface for my situation since CE can't use Asio- would something like Lexicon Alpha and its MME driver help latency, etc? Thanks for any help. xo

Recording setup for Chamber Music

Currently I am in charge of recording a Chamber Music Concert and need to have a better quality audio setup. Currently I use a RODE NTG1 Shotgun Mic running into a Zoom H4N. I shoot from the back of the hall or the balcony. But have realised that the sound out of the Zoom H4n's mic sounds better than the NTG1 for that hall.
