New member- Control Room Window installation Rod's book
Hello everyone. My name is Mark. I am currently in the midst of building my home studio (live and control room) with the help of a local studio engineer, Dan Skye, here in central NJ. The walls are up and the glass thickness has been determined with the help of Rod's book (we both purchased a copy).
Connecting a recording light in control room
Not real sure if this is the right place to post this question so redirect me if needed please (maybe I should be in the construction forum?). I'm slowly building my studio (see thread under "Small Studio Build Journey") and during some construction lately I wanted to plan for a "recording" light in the main entry area.

My Daughter's Wedding March
Forums
My daughter got married a few days ago. I decided to make the Wedding March for her and her fiancé. It has two parts; before and after the marriage ceremony.
I did this pretty quickly but I have to say that this project was a very emotional experience for me, as well as for my daughter and the rest of my family when they heard the song(s) for the first time….

Thread spin off - mixing with and without "stuff"
Forums
This is a spin off of the converters thread that seemed to have gone off the rails - particularly in relation to certain plugin processors - to use or not to use; are standalone converters necessary, who uses what during their mixes, and lastly, whether or not anyone wants to partake of a mix of a project of mine (that has been giving me fits).
Recording Arts Schools
Forums
These recording arts schools typically charge $30,000 for tuition. ( http://www.lafilm.e… )
How many graduates are actually working afterwards? And think of the equipment you could buy for 30K... You could buy a Shadow Hills Compressor, a Manley Massive Passive Mastering EQ, work station, etc and learn by doing.

Recording piano and mic positions
Forums
What do you think about the following recording? I've been trying different mic positions and so far, this sounds the best to my ears. I put the mics inside the piano right next to the hammer line and shut the lid. The mics are Earthworks SR30's. I used an Emu 0404 USB preamp and A/D converter. The recording is hot off the mic with no sound processing.

Feelings on AKG C214?
Forums
Heard it stated this is a unidirectional 414. I'm aware of the variety of 414's but is there any similarity in sound?

Saw James Taylor in Concert last night
Forums
Wow. Beyond his own obvious talent on guitar and vocals, and as a songwriter, he's also got a talent for picking the cream of the crop players as his band.
Steve Gadd on drums, Michael Landau on guitar, Jimmy Johnson on Bass, Lou Marini on horn (from The original Blues Brothers band) Walt Fowler (Horns) Andrea Zohn on violin...
