Augh! My spider is whistling at 14.386kHz!

Finally got my new spider up and running, buuuut...

There's a whistle at exactly 14,386Hz coming from the digital (and analog!) 2-bus that is killing my ears! It's not loud, in fact it's buried somewhat by the unit's inherent noise. But it's still piercing! Is there anyone out there that's used this unit and had this problem before?

Budget Condenser Mics

I am researching budget-priced (under $200) condenser microphones for recording vocals. I am looking at the Oktava MK012 and MK219, Behringer B1 and B2, and the Global Audio GXL2200. Has anyone used these specific models? What type of results can I expect with this class of mic? Also, are there any great internet resources for researching microphone performance?

RFI revisited

There are a lot of postings on the topic of RFI at various audio websites. I'd like to include my version in case somebody else gets driven nuts (like me) trying to find just where the problem is in their system. I transfer vinyl and tape to CD. I'd like to remaster or master for real bands but everything in due time.

Remy Shane

Check out this months homeRecording. There is a feature in there about people/songs that started out in modest homeStudios. Remy Shand is mentioned, and it sounds like he is saying he did his whole album on the Vs880. It's really a good album, very warm and intimate, very soulful. It is on the Motown Label, and it definitely has the motown sound and feel.
