I'm going to build a computer for a pro-studio here in town. I told the guy he should go with one of the new Asus boards w/533 fsb, Rambus (he wants a gig), and a P4 Northwood. Someone else told him that This will have many issues particularly with Asio drivers under certain conditions, Latency, and Vst Instruments.

Ever gotten this? I've got a Roark Data Scsi box with 2 drives (Seagate 9.1 gigs). I've started getting this randomly, usually on the 2nd drive. If i'm playing back a fairly high track count, the drive locks up. It freezes the whole rig. I can't even Blue Z to see what's happening.

Being the pluginsmod, I figured I should go check out the Digidesign pluginstour. Straight off, I can tell you it's worth checking out. I am going to write up a more detailed report, but wanted to recommend seeing it in this quick post. Cheers, Doc.

I'm really new to the digital audio side of things and I'm really keen to get my hands on some decent software for doing remixing and creating all kinds of electronica music.

I'll be recording a Tabla player for the first time in a couple of days. While I've recorded hand drums, they were always open drums.

Anyone have advice on how to mic Tabla ?

Would anybody know a good source of spares for these venerable 2" tape machines, specifically I am in need of idler rollers, or "pucks". I need 1 incoming and 1 outgoing puck.
