Alternatives to the 001...Nuendo?
Greetings DAW heads,
This is my first post here...so I hope I’m in the right place for this!
I’m a 001/Mac user who’s becoming interested in alternative DAW’s, mainly for higher audio track count, and hopefully dual processor support.
Having checked out a few editors this weekend at the NAMM show, I was most blown away by Nuendo.

A Tidbit for the Greedy
This is a subject I have yet to see nailed down on this site - Various OS's from Micro-Slop and the maximum # of devices (in or out) they can support. This refers to Midi in or out, audio (wav) in or out, mixers (internal), etc.

Girl Scout Cookie time...
For those of you that know me, you know that once a year I put my hand on your shoulder to support my daughters' Girl Scout Troops by picking up some cookies. It's not like this is a bad thing... (a little fattening perhaps... but they're so yummy).
So... here's the link: [url=(dead link removed)Girl Scout Cookies[/url]

Buying a PC
Buying a PC?
I am currently Logic Platinum on a Macintosh G3 333 MHz. This system has worked very well for me. It has been extremely stable, and has served me well for the last 3 years. Now I think is the time to upgrade to a bigger computer.
Actually my first thought was to by an Apple G4 867 MHz until a saw the price. That was to much for me to pay.

the STROKES vocal sound
What is up with that vocal chain? I saw them on Saturday Night Live and they achieved the same dirty vox using a 58. I distorded pre, telephonish eq and nasty compression but what exactly is it?
Fill me in.Thanks

Next DAW
Hello,
I'm just about ready to upgrade to a second, more current DAW. Any thoughts on dual processor vs a single 1.7 or higher CPU ? DDR Ram ? Any particular motherboards hot @ the moment?
I will be building a Nuendo system (which specifically mentions dual processor) and want to run VST insts. and plugs as smoothly as possible.

How good are the converters in the Layla 20
Greetings:
I have a couple of questions and from the few posts I have read I am sure I will get some assistance here.
How good are the converters in the Layla 20? Ate they as good as th ones in the Yam aw4416? I know that one is 20 bite 128 x oversampled and the other 24 bits 64 x oversampled. Does the oversampled spec make a major difference...

Thoughts on M80 or Precision 8
I recently purchased an M80 mic preamp but have not yet received it. What should I expect? this is a used unit with the "Jensen" transformers. Is this a pretty good pre for general purpose. I'm tracking through my D8B right now. Will it be much of an improvement? I also ordered an RME AD8 Pro to use as converters. I would also like some feedback on True Systems Precison 8.
