So what is the deal with the RNC. Can a compressor this inexpensive really be any good? I have seen many of you mention it from time to time. What are you using it on and how much are you letting it work?

I happened to noitce in the middle of a session that my (phantom powered) B.L.U.E. mouse mic was not working (barely passing signal) when plugged into my VINTECH 1272 preamp. Oddly enough, it seems to work fine on other preamps, (TubeTech, Daking, etc). And also, oddly, other phantom mics like a TLM 103 continue to work fine on the Vintech.

What do you guys think? Maybe it's too much to ask in the plug world, but I love Clearmountain sounding vocals...solid, in your face sound. I'm just not getting there. I am using CompressOrban k right now.

Me, from what I can see and hear I'd love to work with Marius de Vries. He's everything I'd want in a studio; bright, risk taking, extremely talented and confident. Seems like a very nice man too in this month's Sound on Sound!
(That Melodyne software looks v.cool BTW).

I have one on loan for a few days. Obviously I'm going to put it though it's paces and see what it's good on but I was wondering if anyone else has ever seen or used one. A studio I used to work at had one but there were so many other things that it never got used. What are they worth anyway? I checked Google.com and didn't come up with much of anything.

hey any one know how they record their drums mostly i hear da couple things, 1 u47, or 1 u47 and another mic.

ok heres the example:
threshold: 15db
ratio: 5:1
so does that mean every 5db the signal goes over 15 it allows 1db? so it would be 16db. right?

heres another:
threshold: 10db
ratio: 3:1
so every 3db the signal goes over 10 it allows 1db. so it would be 11db. right?

so i'm about to mix in this basement room which has highish cealings, a lot of area, but all concrete walls. i've been noticing some bass response issues when tracking that i'm not happy with. how do i figure out if it's a room problem or an instrument problem, and then how do i fix it, preferably on the cheap.

so i just ordered a soundelux U95s, and i've heard it's heavy as hell. i'm a small time guy, and this will be my first serious tube mic. what kind of stand do i need to use to prevent any horrible tip-overs?
