I love the sound that I am getting from my vocal mic now. BUT THE "S" sounds are killing me...

I know the first thing you might say is.. DE-EESE. I don't have one.. So what can I do to rid myself of this? :confused: :confused:

So, I've not been very focused this week. Work's been difficult enough; mustering up the strength at the end of the day to hold a forum has been impossible.

Anyway, I would greatly appreciate any feedback on the following:

I always mic the front of the bass drum but, out of curiosity, I was wondering if people have had any success Micing the batter head - does it help with phase? what kind of sound do you get? maybe mic both and invert the phase of one mic?

Ok I'm not looking for RHCP volume or anything but my mixes are ridiculously low in volume, even when I compress and limit like crazy. If the new weezer is on 3 then I have to turn up to about 8 for the same volume on my stereo. Someone have any advice for limiting and compression? I have the Wavesc4 multiband and the maxI'm limiter from digidesign.

can anyone recommend a mastering engineer that specializes in giving digital recordings analog depth. The big mastering facility in my area is trying to recommend me not to have my recording mastered to tape as it will just add hiss, so basically i said forget this guy cause he obviously doesn't understand what i'm going for. any recommendations?

I work at a small theatre and am anxious to increase the automation of our audio work. We use Pro Tools Free, Digital Performer, Peak, Reason, etc. to produce the audio for our productions, but playback during performance is still primarily from CD, minidisk, and simple playlist apps like SoundJam.
